Cytomegalovirus as a cause of recurrent corneal endotheliitis in the Canadian population.

Objective: To report the clinical manifestations, response to antiviral treatment, and long-term visual outcomes of cytomegalovirus endotheliitis in a Canadian population.

Design: Retrospective case series.

Participants: A total of 9 eyes of 7 patients referred to a cornea subspecialty clinic in a major Canadian centre with corneal endotheliitis.

Sural nerve graft for neurotrophic keratitis: early results.

Objective: To report our center's experience in treating neurotrophic keratitis (NK) through corneal neurotization using nerve transfers and sural nerve grafts in the adult population.

Design: Prospective observational case series, single center study.

Subtotal reconstruction of the burned auricle.

The goal for external ear reconstruction is to restore the function of the helical rim in order to provide support for eyeglasses and to provide a cosmetically acceptable auricle. Reconstruction necessitates both flap coverage and flexible framework formation. This article reviews 22 patients who underwent subtotal reconstruction of the auricles after burns.

Analysis of the in vitro effect of exogenous nitric oxide on human lymphocytes.

We investigated the role of endogenous or exogenous nitric oxide (NO) on human lymphocyte function. We used sodium nitroprusside, nitroglycerine, S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine, sodium nitrite and S-nitroso-L-glutathione as NO-generating compounds. All agents were used at doses that do not produce direct cytotoxicity as measured by trypan blue exclusion as well as chromium-51 release assay.
