Drain-site hernia containing the vermiform appendix: report of a case.

The herniated vermiform appendix has been described as content of every hernia orifice in the right lower quadrant. While the femoral and inguinal herniated vermiform appendix is frequent enough to result in an own designation, port-site or even drain-site hernias are less frequently described. We report the case of a 62-year-old woman who presented with right lower quadrant pain seven years after Roux-en-Y Cystojejunostomy for a pancreatic cyst.

Radiologic and endoscopic evaluation for laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding: preoperative and follow-up.

Background: Laparoscopic adjustable silicone gastric banding (LASGB) has replaced vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) as the most widespread restrictive bariatric operation in Europe. Although these two procedures are similar in principle, the experience concerning the preoperative examinations and follow-up cannot be arbitrarily transferred from VBG to LASGB. The reasons for and consequences drawn from radiologic and endoscopic examinations are described.

Dialysis-related Arthropathy in Patients on Long-term Hemodialysis: Radiographic Features.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the character and evolution of bone lesions attributable to amyloid deposition in patients on long-term dialysis. Thirty-five patients who were treated with hemodialysis for 5 to 22 years were studied by a review of medical records and hand radiographs. The frequency, distribution, character, and evolution of skeletal cyst-like lesions believed to be secondary to amyloid deposition were evaluated in relation to dialysis duration.

[Imaging methods in musculoskeletal radiology].

Musculoskeletal disorders can be examined by conventional radiography, nuclear bone scan, computerized tomography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. The potentials and limitations of each method determine the individual application, depending whether the etiology, the extension or the follow-up of a bony lesion is evaluated.
