Introduction: COVID-19 provides an opportunity to examine biological phenotypes (observable morphological, functional and biological characteristics) in individuals who experience the same acute condition, potentially revealing differences in response to acute external stressors. The aim our study was to investigate biological phenotypes in older patients hospitalized for COVID-19, exploiting a panel of aging biomarkers.
Methods: Data were gathered from the FRACOVID Project, an observational multicenter study, aimed to evaluate the impact of frailty on health-related outcomes in patients 60 + with COVID-19 in Northern Italy.
The technique of dialysis has seen enormous advancements over the past fifty years, evolving from an initial phase, primarily based on diffusion through a semipermeable membrane to the current preference for high-efficiency convection, involving the removal of several liters of ultrafiltrate. Diffusive dialysis, due to its relative simplicity in execution, has allowed the treatment of millions of individuals with ESRD, ensuring them a certain quality of life. However, it is not considered optimal in terms of survival and has some complications inherent to the uremic state.

In this study electrospun hierarchical scaffolds made of a poly-L (lactic) acid/collagen blend were developed reproducing all the multiscale levels of aggregation of these tissues. Scanning electron microscopy, microCT and tensile mechanical tests were carried out, including a multiscale digital volume correlation analysis to measure the full-field strain distribution of electrospun structures.

Background: This study aims to examine temporal trends in frailty state transitions, and years spent frail, in older Swedish adults.
Methods: We followed the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen participants from baseline (2001-2004) for 15 (median: 9.6) years.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers (HCWs) in geriatric settings.
Design: Online cross-sectional survey.
Settings And Participants: 394 geriatric HCWs in Italy.
