Frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) hydrogenation catalysts predominantly use alkyl- and aryl-substituted Lewis acids (LA) that offer a limited number of combinations of substituents, limiting our ability to tune their properties and, ultimately, their reactivity. Nevertheless, main-group complexes have numerous ligands available for such purposes, which could enable us to broaden the range of FLP catalysis. Supporting this hypothesis, we demonstrate here that hexacoordinated tin complexes with Schiff base ligands catalyse imine hydrogenation activation of H.

Background/aims: Pancreatic carcinoma belongs to the area of conditions with late diagnosis and there is no effective screening method. One possible approach to diagnosing so called early adenocarcinoma, therefore, lies in the identification and systematic examination of individuals in risk for this condition.
Methodology: Between 1992 and 2005 we systematically observed 223 individuals diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis.
Introduction: Pancreatic carcinoma is one of the diseases which mostly fail to be diagnosed on a timely basis, and there is no way to effectively screen patients for pancreatic carcinoma either. An option for the diagnosis of the "early glandular carcinoma" therefore resides in identification and systematic screening of patients with risk of pancreatic carcinoma.
Method: We monitored 223 patients with chronic pancreatitis on a systematic basis from 1992 to 2005.

Background/aims: This study addresses the possibility of very difficult differential diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis, especially in cases where pancreatic cancer appears in the course of chronic pancreatitis. A combination of graphical methods and pancreatic biopsy targeted with endosonography seems to be the most precise diagnostic technique. Even negative findings for this procedure cannot exclude the risk of existing tumor and is additionally an invasive technique.
