Background And Aims: Despite evidence that local intracuff alkalinised lignocaine may reduce the incidence of exaggerated laryngeal reflexes after thyroid surgery, its effects on the quality of recovery (QoR) from anaesthesia remain unknown. This study aimed to test if local intracuff alkalinised lignocaine improves the QoR from anaesthesia after thyroid surgery compared to placebo.
Methods: Patients over 45 years old scheduled for thyroid surgery with electromyographic monitoring under general anaesthesia were enroled in a randomised, single-centre, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Purpose: To analyze levels of salivary steroids, including 17-OH-progesterone (17-OHP), androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone, cortisol, cortisone, progesterone, testosterone, and estradiol, in patients with acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) patients.
Methods: Acute CSCR patients and healthy individuals were included in this observational case-control study. Levels of salivary steroids were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection.
Brolucizumab, an angiogenesis inhibitor, is a single-chain fragment of a humanized antibody used to treat neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME). Although registration studies are the primary source of information on the new drug, post-marketing studies allow for further exploration and expansion of previous knowledge about its effectiveness, safety, and dosing regimens. This study summarizes the experience with brolucizumab from real-world clinical practice studies.
