A Rare But Fatal Toxicity: Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Related Acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is characterized by thrombotic microangiopathy resulting from decreased activation of the von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease (ADAMTS13). TTP can cause organ damage and is often fatal if the appropriate treatment is not started immediately. Although primary immune TTP is the most common form of TTP, secondary immune etiologies, including complications from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have also been reported.

Understanding the diagnosis of superior mesenteric artery syndrome: analysis of the location of duodenal impression on upper gastrointestinal studies.

Background: Upper gastrointestinal (GI) contrast studies are frequently requested to aid superior mesenteric artery syndrome diagnosis, a rare entity. Compression of the third duodenal part is expected to be mid-to-left of the midline where the superior mesenteric artery arises from the aorta; however, a duodenal impression to the right of the midline due to normal anatomic impression by the inferior vena cava (IVC) is often encountered and frequently misdiagnosed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the frequencies of (1) normal right-of-midline duodenal impressions and (2) mid-to-left of midline compressions in upper GI studies in a tertiary pediatric referral center.

Prognostic Value of the Expression of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase-Like Orphan Receptor 1 (ROR-1) in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

The transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1 (ROR1) has acted on the causation and sustentation of mature B-cell lymphomagenesis for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells. The study attempted to show whether there is a relationship between the level of ROR1 surface expression in CLL cells and disease findings. The level of ROR1 cell surface expression was determined in accordance with the flow cytometric analysis of CLL patients at the first diagnosis time.

Impact of COVID-19 on Outcomes of Patients with Hematologic Malignancies: A Multicenter, Retrospective Study.

Objectives: Patients with hematological malignancies have a high risk of mortality from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on mortality rates in patients with various hematological malignancies and to determine risk factors associated with all-cause mortality.

Methods: A multicenter, observational retrospective analysis of patients with hematological malignancies infected with COVID-19 between July 2020 and December 2021 was performed.
