Water Hyacinth Leaf Protein Concentrate/Graphene Oxide (WHLPC/GO) hydrogel was synthesized for the removal of Cr(VI) from wastewater. About 90% of the prepared hydrogel constitutes WHLPC. The prepared material was characterized by FT-IR and XRD.

Among the different modified electrodes, poly (8AN2SA)/bismuth film modified electrodes showed the highest electrochemical response for both ions. These electrochemical results were also supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Optimization of this series led to the identification of compound , which has potent activity against Gram-positive bacteria, a favorable safety profile, and excellent pharmacokinetic properties. Compound was found to be efficacious against fluoroquinolone-sensitive infection in a mouse thigh model at lower doses than moxifloxacin.

This effort led to the identification of oxazolidinone and isoxazoline inhibitors with potent in vitro activity against P. aeruginosa and other Gram-negative bacteria.

Expression of MBLs confers resistance in Gram-negative bacteria to all classes of β-lactam antibiotics, with the exception of monobactams, which are intrinsically stable to MBLs. However, existing first generation monobactam drugs like aztreonam have limited clinical utility against MBL-expressing strains because they are impacted by serine β-lactamases (SBLs), which are often co-expressed in clinical isolates.
