Gut microbiota disruptions after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) are associated with increased risk of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). We designed a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial to test whether healthy-donor fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) early after alloHCT reduces the incidence of severe aGVHD. Here, we report the results from the single-arm run-in phase which identified the best of 3 stool donors for the randomized phase.

Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (sDAVFs) are rather uncommon lesions of the spine. In sDAVFs, which represent the most frequent form of vascular malformations of the spine, operative treatment remains the most common treatment modality. In operative surgery, visualization and pathology detection have a key impact on the results of the neurosurgical treatment of an sDAVF.

Boehmite nanoparticles and NaY nanozeolite were synthesized by co-precipitation and hydrothermal methods, respectively, and characterized by XRD, FT-IR, TG-DTA, BET, and SEM techniques. XRD and BET analyses demonstrated the formation of boehmite nanoparticles with a surface area of 350 m/g and high crystallinity NaY nanozeolite with a surface area of 957 m/g. In order to evaluate the effect of the content of the mesoporous boehmite nanoparticles on the catalytic performance of the Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) catalyst, alumina active matrix-based and silica inactive matrix-based catalysts were prepared.

Article Synopsis
  • High-dose methotrexate (MTX) can lead to serious complications like acute kidney injury (AKI), neutropenia, and liver damage, but glucarpidase, an enzyme that breaks down MTX, shows potential benefits.
  • In a study of 708 patients with MTX-AKI across 28 cancer centers, those receiving glucarpidase had a significantly higher chance of kidney recovery and faster recovery times compared to those who did not receive the treatment.
  • Additionally, glucarpidase treatment was associated with lower rates of severe neutropenia and liver enzyme elevation, but there was no notable difference in mortality rates between the two groups.

Herein, a novel nanocomposite was developed to adjust the textural properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for adsorptive applications. To this end, nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite (RC) was embedded into MIL-101(Cr) crystals, named RC-ML-x nanocomposites. The prepared nanoadsorbents were thoroughly characterized by different techniques.
