An experimental study on the diagnostic advantage of dual-energy computed tomography over single-energy scan to evaluate the treatment effect following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization.

Objectives: We assessed the diagnostic advantage of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) over single-energy computed tomography (SECT) to evaluate lipiodol accumulation in target lesions following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE).

Methods: TACE was performed in 10 rabbits in whom the VX2 tumor was implanted in their left liver lobes. The miriplatin-lipiodol mixture was injected into the common hepatic artery.

Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis Caused by Aspergillus tubingensis Diagnosed by a Bronchoscopic Biopsy.

We herein report a case of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA) caused by Aspergillus tubingensis diagnosed by a bronchoscopic biopsy with negative serological and sputum culture findings. A 66-year-old man was referred for the assessment of a pulmonary cavity. Computed tomography showed a thick-walled cavity in the upper right pulmonary lobe.

Early and Post-Treatment Imaging Findings in Perineural Spread: A Pathway to Diffuse Muscle Metastasis in Recurrent Bladder Carcinoma.

Perineural spread (PNS) from pelvic carcinoma has been regarded as a pathway to muscle and bone metastasis. However, few cases have been reported, especially in patients with bladder carcinoma. In the present report, we discuss a case of diffuse cancer involvement in the muscle 5 years after radical cystectomy for advanced bladder carcinoma.

Establishment of indicator for screening of child abuse and neglect in primary school-age children.

Aim: In Japan, elementary schools are committed to early discovery of child abuse and neglect. Under Japanese law, dentists are required to be involved in child welfare and early detection of child abuse. However, the extent to which dental practitioners cooperate for prevention of child abuse with schools remains limited to date.
