Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the combined effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and vitamin D (VD) on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in type 2 diabetic mice, filling a gap in previous research.
  • Diabetic mice were subjected to a high-fructose/high-fat diet and then treated with either SGLT2i, VD, or both, revealing that while SGLT2i alone was effective, the combination treatment offered superior protection.
  • Results showed significant improvements in metabolic parameters, liver health, and reductions in inflammation and oxidative stress markers, indicating that the combined therapy enhances hepatic protection against diabetes-induced MASH.

Purpose: To assess the amount of excess cement and the retentive strengths of two different cementation techniques (conventional cementation and practice abutment) using copings fabricated with three different cement thicknesses (20 μm, 35 μm, and 50 μm).

Materials And Methods: Thirty zirconia copings were fabricated on screw retained abutments and randomly divided into three equal groups (n = 10) according to the cement thickness (20 μm, 35 μm, and 50 μm). Each group was cemented with tow cementation techniques.

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), which encompass ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), are characterized by chronic inflammation and tissue damage of the gastrointestinal tract. This study aimed to uncover novel disease-gene signatures, dysregulated pathways, and the immune cell infiltration landscape of inflamed tissues. Eight publicly available transcriptomic datasets, including inflamed and non-inflamed tissues from CD and UC patients were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • L-2 hydroxyglutaric aciduria (L-2-HGA) is a rare genetic disorder that leads to various neurological symptoms and requires careful diagnosis for effective treatment.
  • In a case series of three patients, symptoms included febrile seizures, hyperactivity, and intellectual challenges, with one case showing cervical dystonia.
  • Brain MRIs of two patients revealed distinctive patterns associated with L-2-HGA, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and early diagnosis to enable the use of management strategies like riboflavin, levocarnitine, and dietary changes.

Antitumor activity using 59 cancer cell lines and enzyme inhibitory activity of a newly synthesized pyrazoline-linked 4-methylsulfonylphenyl scaffold (compounds 18a-q) were measured and compared with those of standard drugs. Pyrazolines 18b, 18c, 18f, 18g, 18h, and 18n possessed significant antitumor activity, with a positive cytotoxic effect (PCE) of 22/59, 21/59, 21/59, 48/59, 51/59, and 20/59, respectively. The cancer cell lines HL60, MCF-7, and MDA-MB-231 were used to measure the IC values of derivatives 18c, 18g, and 18h the MTT assay method, and the results were compared with those of reference drugs.
