Research into the role of probiotics-often referred to as "living supplements"-in cancer therapy is still in its early stages, and uncertainties regarding their effectiveness remain. Relevantly, chemopreventive and therapeutic effects of probiotics have been determined. There is also substantial evidence supporting their potential in cancer treatment such as immunotherapy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) are considered at high risk for pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission. Therefore, this study aimed to assess outcomes and mortality-related risk factors among pediatric HSCT recipients admitted to the PICU.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at a Saudi Arabian tertiary care center and involved pediatric patients (aged 4 weeks to 14 years) who underwent HSCTs between January 2015 and December 2019 and were admitted to the PICU.
Objectives: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) poses high mortality and morbidity rates with limited evidence-based therapeutic approaches. We aimed to evaluate the current evidence for the role of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in the management of ICH.
Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed recommended guidelines and protocols.
Supracondylar humerus fractures (SCH) are the most prevalent elbow fractures in the pediatric age group. Delay in treatment poses challenges and an elevated risk of complications. We describe a case of revision for postoperative malalignment with closed reduction percutaneous pinning with good clinical outcomes.
