Validation of clearcalc for efficient patient specific QA.

Uganda's only radiotherapy center is a very busy facility treating about 210 patients daily on three linear accelerators making it sometimes hard to have machine time for pretreatment QAs. This study was aimed at validating an independent calculation software, ClearCalc (ICS) for second checks of the treatment planning system (TPS) calculations. The validation of ICS started with simple phantom test plans consisting of square, irregular, open and wedged fields designed in the TPS and measured in phantoms.

Errors in manual radiotherapy treatment procedures and their evolution in a low resource setting: Uganda's experience.

Purpose: In Uganda, two-dimensional (2D) radiotherapy treatments have been in use since the establishment of radiotherapy in 1995. Preliminary investigations of treatment records in November 2019 showed evidence of gaps requiring urgent attention. The purpose of this study was to improve the safety of the treatments.

Low Post-Treatment Quality of Life and the High Incidence of Pain Are Common and Significantly Exacerbated in Depressed Head and Neck Patients Treated with Definitive Accelerated Radiotherapy.

(1) Background: The goal of this study is to evaluate psychological tolerance and health-related quality of life (QOL) in head and neck (HN) cancer patients treated with definitive accelerated radiotherapy (DART). (2) Methods: 76 recurrence-free patients eligible for the study, who were treated with DART in the CAIR-2 phase III clinical study (median of follow-up = 47 months), completed EORTC QLQ-C30 with the H&N35 module, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Visual-Analog Scales (VAS) of pain in HN and the neck/arm areas. (3) Results: The most dominant symptoms measured with QLQ-C30 were as follows: fatigue (44/100), sleeplessness (39/100), financial problems (38/100) and pain (32/100).

The guidelines Thyroid Cancer 2022 are prepared based on previous Polish recommendations updated in 2018. They consider international guidelines - American Thyroid Association (ATA) 2015 and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN); however, they are adapted according to the ADAPTE process. The strength of the recommendations and the quality of the scientific evidence are assessed according to the GRADE system and the ATA 2015 and NCCN recommendations.
