Subcutaneous Lower Pole Release as Double Bubble Prevention in Constricted Base Breasts: The "Plus One" Augmentation Technique.

Background: Breasts with a broad base, constricted inframammary fold (IMF) and a short distance between the nipple and the IMF are predisposed to form a double bubble (DB) deformity. Most publications have focused on the correction of a DB rather than on its prevention and thorough analysis of the IMF.

Objectives: Introduction of a third dissection plane in breast augmentation for preventing or correcting DB deformities.

The PANDEM-2 Simulation Exercise: Training the Coordinated Response to a Large-Scale Pandemic in 2 European Public Health Emergency Operations Centers.

Objective: In the course of the EU funded Pandemic Preparedness and Response (PANDEM-2) project, a functional exercise (FX) was conducted to train the coordinated response to a large-scale pandemic event in Europe by using new IT solutions developed by the project. This report provides an overview of the steps involved in planning, conducting, and evaluating the FX.

Methods: The FX design was based on the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) simulation exercise cycle for public health settings and was carried out over 2 days in the German and Dutch national public health institutes (PHI), with support from other consortium PHIs.

Healthcare practitioners as accomplices: a qualitative study of gender affirmation in a context of ambiguous regulation in Indonesia.

Background: The World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines Standards of Care 8 draw on ethical arguments based on individual autonomy, to argue that healthcare and other professionals should be advocates for trans people. Such guidelines presume the presence of medical services for trans people and a degree of consensus on medical ethics. Very little is known, however, about the ethical challenges associated with both providing and accessing trans healthcare, including gender affirmation, in the Global South.

Enhancing Aesthetics in Bilateral DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction: the Role of Tissue Pre-Expansion.

Background: Achieving symmetrical outcomes in bilateral autologous breast reconstruction is challenging, particularly in cases of asymmetrical recipient sites. Tissue pre-expansion is proposed to improve aesthetics by enlarging the skin envelope for refined breast shaping. This study examines its efficacy in bilateral DIEP flap reconstructions.
