Background: Interferon-γ release assays (IGRAs) for tuberculosis infection (TBI) cannot distinguish different stages of the TBI spectrum (including spontaneously cleared infection). We investigated patterns of Mtb-specific blood mediators in people with and without TBI during tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT).

Alternative splicing contributes to diversify the cellular protein landscape, but aberrant splicing is implicated in many diseases. To which extent mis-splicing contributes to insulin resistance as the causal defect of type 2 diabetes and whether this can be reversed by lifestyle interventions is largely unknown. Therefore, RNA sequencing data from skeletal muscle and adipose tissue of diabetes-susceptible NZO mice treated with or without intermittent fasting and of healthy C57BL/6J mice subjected to exercise were analyzed for alternative splicing differences using Whippet and rMATS.

Metastasis to vital organs remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, emphasizing an urgent need for actionable targets in advanced-stage cancer. The role of mitochondrial Rho GTPase 2 (MIRO2) in prostate cancer growth was recently reported; however, whether MIRO2 is important for additional steps in the metastatic cascade is unknown. Here, we show that knockdown of MIRO2 ubiquitously reduces tumor cell invasion in vitro and suppresses metastatic burden in prostate and breast cancer mouse models.

To our knowledge, this study presents the first implementation of wavelength-resolved resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectroscopy under atmospheric pressure ionization conditions using a high-resolution mass spectrometric system. Atmospheric pressure laser ionization MS spectroscopic measurements were conducted on over 70 different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and hetero-PAHs (N, S, and O) in standard solutions, as well as three complex PAH-containing samples. The results demonstrate the successful transfer of REMPI spectroscopy from vacuum to atmospheric pressure conditions, maintaining spectral integrity without significant band broadening.
