Background: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) can cause debilitating symptoms and optic nerve ischemia if untreated. Cerebrospinal fluid diversion is often necessary to reduce intracranial pressure; however, current ventriculoperitoneal and lumboperitoneal shunting techniques have high failure rates in patients with IIH.

Objective: To describe our experience treating IIH with a novel stereotactic-guided transcerebellar cisternoperitoneal shunt (SGTC-CPS) technique that places the proximal shunt catheter in the posterior cisterna magnum.

Objective: The ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus (VIM) is an effective target for deep brain stimulation (DBS) to control symptoms related to essential tremor. The VIM is typically targeted using indirect methods, although studies have reported visualization of the VIM on proton density-weighted MRI. Purpose: We introduce a novel approach to the surgical repair of Morgagni hernias (MHs) utilizing the robotic transabdominal preperitoneal repair (rTAPP) approach. Borrowed from our previous and robust experience with rTAPP repairs for hernias of the anterior abdominal wall, this technique boasts the benefits of hernia sac reduction, the use of an uncoated mesh in an extraperitoneal plane, and minimal fixation leading to lower postoperative pain relative to other approaches.

Methods: To evaluate the effectiveness of this novel approach, five consecutive symptomatic Morgagni hernias (MHs) were repaired with the rTAPP approach.

Background: As United States (US) medical students suffer higher rates of depression and anxiety than the general population, the wellness of medical students is particularly salient. One definition describes wellness as having eight dimensions: Intellectual, emotional, physical, social, occupational, financial, environmental, and spiritual. Background: Omeprazole is a common proton pump inhibitor that interferes with the hepatic activation of clopidogrel and potentially reduces its platelet-inhibitory effect. Omeprazole has been shown to increase P2Y levels and adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients treated with drug-eluting stents. However, omeprazole use among patients treated with flow-diverting stents for intracranial aneurysms has not been evaluated.
