Background: As older age and having certain comorbidities can influence humoral responses to vaccination, we studied antibody responses after the COVID-19 booster campaigns in nursing home (NH) residents.

Methods: In a two year longitudinal study with Dutch NH residents (n = 107), aged 50 years and over, we monitored antibody responses in serum prior to and after vaccination with a third, fourth BNT162b2 (wild-type; WT), and a BNT162b2 bivalent (WT/OMI BA.1) fifth vaccine.

We present the protocol for a study testing the hypothesis that a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system for three-dimensional multiparametric ultrasound (3D mpUS) is noninferior to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in guiding prostate biopsies for detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa). The prospective study has a fully paired design for assessment of diagnostic accuracy and is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT06281769.

Article Synopsis
  • This study assessed the effectiveness of magnetic resonance dispersion imaging (MRDI) in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) compared to standard multiparametric MRI (mpMRI).
  • It involved 76 patients, with two radiologists evaluating MRI results and comparing findings to actual prostate cancer histopathology after surgery.
  • Results indicated that MRDI potentially enhances sensitivity in detecting csPCa and reduces variability between observers, with one radiologist finding a 20% increase in detected cases using MRDI.

Background And Objective: A combined approach of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-targeted biopsy (TBx) and bilateral systematic biopsy (SBx) is advised in patients who have an increased risk of prostate cancer (PCa). The diagnostic gain of SBx in detecting PCa for treatment planning of patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) is unknown. This study aims to determine the impact of omitting contralateral SBx on the surgical planning of patients undergoing RARP in terms of nerve-sparing surgery (NSS) and extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND).

Background: PIENTER 3 (P3), conducted in 2016/17, is the most recent of three nationwide serological surveys in the Netherlands. The surveys aim to monitor the effects of the National Immunisation Programme (NIP) by assessing population seroprevalence of included vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs). The response rate to the main sample was 15.
