Human papilloma virus (HPV) infections are associated with almost all cervical cancers and to a lower extend also with anogenital or oropharyngeal cancers. HPV proteins expressed in HPV-associated tumors are attractive antigens for cancer vaccination strategies as self-tolerance, which is associated with most endogenous tumor-associated antigens, does not need to be overcome. In this study, we generated a live attenuated cancer vaccine based on the chimeric vesicular stomatitis virus VSV-GP, which has previously proven to be a potent vaccine vector and oncolytic virus.

Nirmatrelvir is the first protease inhibitor specifically developed against the SARS-CoV-2 protease 3CL that has been licensed for clinical use. To identify mutations that confer resistance to this protease inhibitor, we engineered a chimeric vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) that expressed a polyprotein composed of the VSV glycoprotein (G), the SARS-CoV-2 3CL, and the VSV polymerase (L).

However, for SARS-CoV-2 only a small number of protease inhibitors have been identified thus far and there is still a great need for assays that efficiently report protease activity and inhibition in living cells. Here, we engineer a safe VSV-based system to report both gain- and loss-of-function of coronavirus main protease (M/3CLpro/Nsp5) activity in living cells.

Here, we demonstrate the activity of NCT against viruses causing acute respiratory tract infections, namely severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), influenza viruses, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Virucidal activity of NCT was tested in plaque assays, confirmed by RT-qPCR assays.

Owing to their distinguishing beneficial effects and long history of safe use, species belonging to the Lactobacillus genus are among the most widely used probiotic species in human food and dietary supplements and are finding increased use in animal feed. Here, we isolated, identified, and evaluated the safety of two novel Limosilactobacillus reuteri (L.
