The study reviewed complications and flap loss in 191 oral cancer reconstruction patients from 2005-2010.
The most used flaps were the fasciocutaneous radial forearm free flap (RFFF) and the anterolateral thigh free flap (ALTFF), while the deep circumflex iliac artery flap (DCIA) had a higher failure rate.
Complications were most frequent in patients aged 41-50, but older patients did not show an increased risk of complications overall.
