Aim: To evaluate the impact of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) on treatment planning for impacted maxillary canines; secondly, to identify CBCT factors influencing a change in the treatment plan; and thirdly, to assess 2D radiographic factors that can aid in selecting appropriate candidates for CBCT.
Material And Methods: Patients with impacted maxillary canines and an overlap of a neighboring tooth in 2D radiographs and the suspicion of root resorption were referred for CBCT examination. An initial treatment plan was based on 2D radiographs, and the final treatment plan was established after the CBCT examination.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is caused by progressive neurodegeneration and characterised by motor dysfunction. Neurodegeneration of dopaminergic neurons also causes aberrations within the cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical (CSTC) circuit, which has been hypothesised to lead to non-motor symptoms such as depression. Individuals with PD have both lower synaptic density and changes in neuronal metabolic function in the basal ganglia, as measured using [C]UCB-J and [F]FDG positron emission tomography (PET), respectively.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF2 cases of malignant T-lymphoproliferative disease are reported. The proliferating cell was a large blast expressing E and Fc gamma receptors but no helper or suppressor phenotypes and no SmIg. Skin infiltrates were the dominant clinical sign with conspicuous perivascular aggregations of T, E, Fc gamma lymphocytes, though both patients initially had disseminated disease with mild lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly and, in case 2, also hepatic infiltrations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF8 patients with clinical and haematological features suggestive of hairy cell leukaemia are described. During their initial illness morphologic and cytochemical evidence of hairy cell leukaemia were lacking in all but 2 patients. A common highly characteristic histopathologic finding was reticulin fibrosis in the bone marrow, present in all patients at first presentation.
