Signal inhibitory receptor on leukocytes-1 (SIRL-1) is an immune inhibitory receptor expressed on human myeloid cells. We previously showed that dendritic cell (DC)-driven Th17 cell differentiation of human naive CD4+ T cells requires presence of neutrophils, which is inhibited by SIRL-1 ligation. VSTM1-v2 is a soluble isoform of SIRL-1, which was previously proposed to function as a Th17 polarizing cytokine.

The biodegradation of bromate was investigated by assessing the ability of mixed cultures of micro-organisms for utilization of bromate as electron acceptor and acetate as electron donor. Reduction of bromate was only observed at relatively low concentrations (<3.

A bacterium capable of utilizing the alkyl chains of didecyldimethylammonium salt was isolated from activated sludge. In addition, the isolate also utilized didodecyldimethylammonium salt, ditetradecyldimethylammonium salt and alkyltrimethylammonium salts (C10 to C18) as sole source of carbon and energy. The broad substrate with respect to the alkyl chain length was also demonstrated with oxidation rates of various quaternary ammonium salts by didecyldimethylammonium chloride-grown cells.
