Harnessing Big Heterogeneous Data to Evaluate the Potential Impact of HIV Responses Among Key Populations in Sub-Saharan Africa: Protocol for the Boloka Data Repository Initiative.

Background: In South Africa, there is no centralized HIV surveillance system where key populations (KPs) data, including gay men and other men who have sex with men, female sex workers, transgender persons, people who use drugs, and incarcerated persons, are stored in South Africa despite being on higher risk of HIV acquisition and transmission than the general population. Data on KPs are being collected on a smaller scale by numerous stakeholders and managed in silos. There exists an opportunity to harness a variety of data, such as empirical, contextual, observational, and programmatic data, for evaluating the potential impact of HIV responses among KPs in South Africa.

Seronegative Autoimmune Encephalitis With Rapidly Progressive Parkinsonism.

Seronegative autoimmune encephalitis is an infrequent entity in older patients, and its presentation as rapidly progressive parkinsonism is rarely seen in cases of autoimmune encephalitis. We present a case report of an older patient who presented with worsening Parkinson's-like symptoms over a month. We highlight the importance of considering autoimmune encephalitis as a potential cause of rapidly progressive parkinsonism and the importance of radiological findings when the entire autoimmune panel is negative in such patients.

Complications After Incisional/Excisional Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery-An Update and Literature Review.

Purpose: To discuss comprehensively the varied complications after stent-less incisional or excisional minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).

Method: A review of reported complications after stent-less MIGS procedures including gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT), bent needle goniectomy (BANG), Kahook-dual blade goniotomy, and microincisional trabeculectomy (MIT) published between 2014-2024, were analyzed and summarized.

Results: Apart from hyphema, peripheral anterior synechiae, and intraocular pressure spikes, other vision-threatening complications like cyclodialysis, Descemet's detachment, corneal edema, iridodilalysis, vitreous loss or vitreous hemorrhage can also occur intra- or postoperatively after any incisional or excisional MIGS procedures.

Synergistic Electrode and Electrolyte Polarities Lead to Outstanding Organic Potassium-based Batteries.

Organic materials are promising as battery electrodes due to their flexible design, low cost, and sustainability. Although high electrolyte concentrations are known to suppress organic cathode dissolution, the organic cathode solubility depends on the interplay between the electrode and electrolyte polarities, which remains unexplored. Here, we elucidate the delicate interplay of electrode and electrolyte polarities to achieve stable cycling of organic cathode.

The role of statins in breast cancer survivors.

Purpose: As breast cancer survival rates improve, cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become a critical concern among survivors due to co-morbidities and the cardiotoxic effects of cancer treatments. The risk of developing CVD in this population may surpass the risk of cancer recurrence. This review aims to analyze existing research on the use of statins in breast cancer survivors, focusing on their potential role in mitigating cardiovascular risk and cancer recurrence.
