The determination of the cancer prognosis is paramount for patients and medical personnel so that they can devise treatment strategies. Transcriptional-based signatures and subtypes derived from cancer biopsy material have been used in clinical practice for several cancer types to aid in setting the patient prognosis and forming treatment strategies. Other genomic features in cancer biopsies, such as copy number alterations (CNAs), have been underused in clinical practice, and yet they represent a complementary source of molecular information that can add detail to the prognosis, which is supported by recent work in breast, ovarian, and lung cancers.

In this sense, with the aid of computational chemistry, significant advances can be achieved. The present work explores the adsorption of hydrogen molecules by lithium clusters (Li, where n = 1-6) coordinated to a graphitic carbon nitride (heptazine, gCN) cavity.

Surgical treatment options include microdiscectomy, lumbar fusion, total disc replacement, and other minimally invasive approaches. At present, microdiscectomy procedures are the most used technique; however, the annulus fibrosus is left with a defect that without treatment may contribute to high reherniation rates and changes in the biomechanics of the lumbar spine.

The influence of different parameters on the immobilization conditions was evaluated by a 2 full factorial design, and parameters leading to the highest activity were identified. Under these conditions, laccase activity reached 14 ± 2 U g of silica with a protein immobilization yield of 35%.

We assessed whether use of an Obstetric Safe Surgery Checklist for cesarean deliveries (CDs), based on the WHO Safe Surgery Checklist, can improve communication; reduce team member confusion about urgency of the case; and decrease documentation discrepancies among nursing, obstetric, anesthesia, and pediatric staff.
Methods: Retrospective review of 600 CDs on our 2 labor and delivery suites before and after the introduction of 2 consecutive versions of our obstetric safe surgery checklist (100 cases in each cohort) was undertaken.
