[Cognitive therapy of depressive rumination].

Modern approaches to the therapy of depressive ruminations are reviewed. Depressive ruminations are thought to underlie and maintain depression. The authors describe different forms of ruminations and present the analysis of depressive ruminations and the role of childhood experience in their development as well as cognitive-behavioral techniques used for their correction.

[Modern concepts of nature and pathogenesis of depression (a psychological aspect)].

This review addresses the impairment of cognitive processes in depression, interpersonal interactions and empathy in depressive patients. The authors consider cognitive models of depression showing distortions in domains of attention, memory and interpretation, that may lead to utilizing the rigid automatic approaches of situation evaluation, which impair emotional regulation. Interpersonal theories describe patterns of interpersonal interactions and dysfunctional personal characteristics (interpersonal inhibition, insecure attachment styles) also influencing onset and maintenance of depressive states.

What research is being done on prenatal alcohol exposure and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders in the Russian research community?

Aims: Although Russia has one of the highest rates of alcohol consumption and alcohol-attributable burden of disease, little is known about the existing research on prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) in this country. The objective of this study was to locate and review published and unpublished studies related to any aspect of PAE and FASD conducted in or using study populations from Russia.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in multiple English and Russian electronic bibliographic databases.
