Cancer immunotherapies with antibodies blocking immune checkpoint molecules are clinically active across multiple cancer entities and have markedly improved cancer treatment. Yet, response rates are still limited, and tumour progression commonly occurs. Soluble and cell-bound factors in the tumour microenvironment negatively affect cancer immunity.

Article Synopsis
  • The study developed a new surgical technique for treating full-thickness macular holes (MH) associated with proliferative epiretinal structures, assessing its effectiveness in a clinical setting.
  • It involved 34 patients, with one group undergoing the new technique featuring an inverted internal limiting membrane (ILM)/epiretinal membrane (ERM) flap, and the other group using conventional peeling techniques.
  • Results showed that the new technique led to better visual acuity and more significant improvements in central retinal sensitivity, with a higher success rate in closing macular holes compared to traditional methods.

Metal nanoparticles are widely used as heterogeneous catalysts to activate adsorbed molecules and reduce the energy barrier of the reaction. Reaction product yield depends on the interplay between elementary processes: adsorption, activation, desorption, and reaction. These processes, in turn, depend on the inlet gas composition, temperature, and pressure.
