Objective: Aim: To determine the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis based on the analysis of research data and statistics from the MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection electronic databases for 2007-2023.

Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: A comprehensive review of literature sources from the MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection electronic databases was conducted to critically analyse the data and determine the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.

Conclusion: Conclusions: In this review, we have summarized the latest literature data on the association between mitochondrial dysfunction and the development of atherosclerosis.

Psoriasis is a common dermatosis which affects the patient's skin and general well-being because of its link to diseases such as depression, kidney disease and metabolic syndrome. Pathogenesis remains unknown; however, genetic, environmental and immunological factors seem to play a role in the development of the disease. Due to a lack of complete understanding of the psoriasis pathology, effective treatment is yet to be developed.

  • Psoriasis is linked to heart-related issues, and the study examined the levels of two proteins, Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) and Pentraxin 3 (PTX3), in patients with psoriasis compared to healthy individuals.
  • Results showed that PTX3 levels were significantly higher in psoriatic patients, especially those who were overweight or obese and that these levels decreased after treatment with acitretin or methotrexate.
  • PON1 levels remained similar to controls, but in normal weight psoriatics, it negatively correlated with liver enzyme activity, suggesting it may indicate liver problems in psoriasis patients.

Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic health care systems worldwide rapidly implemented telemedicine solutions in order to avoid spreading the coronavirus among doctors and patients.

Aim: To analyse the knowledge, usage, and attitude towards telemedicine among patients, dermatologists, and other doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Material And Methods: An original anonymous online survey was carried between 22 September 2020 and 29 December 2020 in Poland among 121 patients, 63 dermatologists, and 50 doctors of other specialties.

Modeling is a valuable tool in understanding processes at a single scale or the interactions between two adjacent scales and researchers use a variety of different software tools in the model building and analysis process. Here we focus on the scale of biochemical pathways, which is one of the main objects of study in systems biology.
