[Analysis of 5'-leader regions in protozoa type Apicomplexa and red algae plastids].

Apicomplexan parasites contain the apicoplasts, a chloroplast-like organelle. By means of the multiple alignments of 5'-leader regions for the plastid-encoded genes, we found some conserved non-coding regions in the parasites as well as in red algae. We suppose these regions are the sites for interaction between the RNA and regulatory proteins.
