The impact of arithmetic representation on implementing MLP-BP on FPGAs: a study.

In this paper, arithmetic representations for implementing multilayer perceptrons trained using the error backpropagation algorithm (MLP-BP) neural networks on field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are examined in detail. Both floating-point (FLP) and fixed-point (FXP) formats are studied and the effect of precision of representation and FPGA area requirements are considered. A generic very high-speed integrated circuit hardware description language (VHDL) program was developed to help experiment with a large number of formats and designs.

[Work capacity and the factors limiting it in patients with III- to IV-degree obesity].

There is a marked decrement in physical performance of those patients with III to IV grade obesity as compared to apparently healthy volunteers going into training. Deficient reserve capabilities of the system for utilization of oxygen and oxygen transport appear to be those factors determining and limiting physical fitness of obese individuals. Exercise testing involving recording of indices for gas exchange in real time appears to be a valuable method of diagnosis of particular features of oxygen supply in patients with III to IV grade obesity, providing a very helpful information.

[Radiation-induced damage of mitochondrial genome and its role in long-term effects of irradiation].

The role of mt-genome mutations in radiation-induced carcinogenesis has been hypothesized. The data on radiation chemistry of nucleic acids has been used to evaluate mutagenic effect of carcinogenic doses of ionizing radiation. The assumptions about the ways of biological augmentation of primary radiation-induced lesions in mt-genome has been given.
