[Surgical management of stenosing lesions of carotid arteries based on comparative results of an ultrasonographic and angiographic study].

Surgical treatment of stenosing lesions of carotid arteries has proved to be a reliable method of prevention and management of chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic possibilities of duplex scanning from the position of an isolated diagnostic method for safe and efficient reconstruction of carotid arteries. The study comprised 177 patients presenting with occlusive-and-stenotic lesions of carotid arteries, who underwent a total of 204 reconstructive operations.
