The increasing demand for sustainable and efficient energy storage materials has led to significant research into utilizing waste biomass for producing activated carbons. This study investigates the impact of the structural properties of activated carbons derived from various lignocellulosic biomasses-barley straw, wheat straw, and wheat bran-on the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis reveals the presence of key functional groups and their transformations during carbonization and activation processes.

Methods: A 19-question survey developed by the SBI mentorship committee was distributed electronically to its members March 16, 2021, to May 7, 2021, to gauge interest in forming a society-sponsored mentorship program. Responses were analyzed, with subgroups compared using chi-square analysis.
The report presents modern views on the origin and pathomorphological characteristics of the cholesterol granuloma of the petrous apex of temporal bone, its clinical comparison with congenital cholesteatoma of the same localization. The differential diagnostic features in CT and MRI scans are analyzed in detail, and the principles of surgical treatment, indications and contraindications are discussed. Also the case of atypical course of cholesterol granuloma is presented, which was difficult in the diagnostics but with a successful treatment result.

The purpose of this study was to identify an early treatment window for predicting pCR based on tumor subtype, pretreatment total hemoglobin (tHb) level, and early changes in tHb following NAC.
Methods: Twenty-two patients (mean age 56 years, range 34-74 years) were assessed using a near-infrared imager coupled with an Ultrasound system prior to treatment, 7 days after the first treatment, at the end of each of the first three cycles, and before their definitive surgery.
