Background: Enhancing slow waves, the electrophysiological (EEG) manifestation of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, could potentially benefit patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) by improving sleep quality and slowing disease progression. Phase-targeted auditory stimulation (PTAS) is an approach to enhance slow waves, which are detected in real-time in the surface EEG signal.
Objective: We aimed to test whether the local-field potential of the subthalamic nucleus (STN-LFP) can be used to detect frontal slow waves and assess the electrophysiological changes related to PTAS.
Aim: Iatrogenic etiologies continue playing an increasing role in the formation of urethral strictures (US) in the industrially developed countries. Our aim was to study specific iatrogenic causative factors in the etiology of US, treatment efficacy and risk factors of their recurrence.
Materials And Methods: A total of 230 men with iatrogenic urethral strictures operated between 2008 and 2017 were included into the study group.
A method for measurement of dimensions of platy particles of exfoliating, or delaminating, materials, such as clays, in aqueous suspensions in situ is proposed. Equivalent spherical diameter (esd), measured by many common methods, depends more on the major (lateral) dimension of a particle, while it is less sensitive to changes of the particle thickness. Addition of the second method, results of which are a function of the particle diameter and thickness too, would provide more accurate determination of the particle dimensions.

We examined 1018 patients (825 men and 193 women, aged 31-78 years, mean age 59+/-12 years) in the period of preparation to elective surgical interventions on coronary arteries or other arterial beds.
