Factors associated with progression and outcomes of primary biliary cholangitis: A cohort study, 2010-2019.

Background: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) can impact both the quality of life and the survival of patients. The study aimed to determine the survival rate and associated variables in patients with PBC.

Materials And Methods: This cohort research comprised 65 patients diagnosed with PBC who were admitted to the pathology section between January 2010 and December 2019.

Background: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), an autosomal dominant disease, is associated with an increased risk of premature cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study aimed to examine the variations in serum levels of calcium, vitamin D, phosphorus, and parathyroid hormone (PTH) among FH patients, as these factors have been associated with an increased susceptibility to CVD.

Investigation of recurrence of joint symptoms after COVID-19 in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: Cross-sectional study.

Background: In this study, the relationship between involvement by COVID-19 and the recurrence of symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was investigated.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 112 patients with RA with and without a history of COVID-19. The severity and recurrence of RA symptoms were measured and recorded by the Disease Activity Score in 28 joints (DAS-28) index and clinical evaluations by a rheumatologist.

Pulmonary vein capture is a predictor for long-term success of stand-alone pulmonary vein isolation with cryoballoon ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation.

Background: The mechanisms of AF development and progression are still not completely understood. Despite the relative efficacy of ablation, the risk of AF recurrence is substantial, particularly in patients with persistent AF (perAF). At present we do not have any reliable intra-procedural electrophysiologic predictors of long-term success of AF ablation other than pulmonary vein isolation.

Comparative Study of Demographic and Toxico-Clinical Factors of Patients with Acute Poisoning Admitted to General Intensive Care Unit versus Specific Intensive Care Unit for Poisoning Cases.

Background: There is no dedicated specific intensive care unit (ICU) for poisoning cases due to the small number of poisoned patients in some poisoning centers and patients may hospitalized in the general ICU. In this study, we compared the outcome of hospitalization in poisoning and general ICU, in matched patients to demographical and toxico-clinical factors.

Materials And Methods: This historical cohort study was conducted from September 2020 to January 2022 in the general and poisoning ICUs of Khorshid Hospital affiliated to the University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran.
