Background: Pediatric osteoarticular tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health challenge, particularly in resource-limited settings, where delayed diagnosis and treatment frequently lead to severe long-term complications. Despite advancements in TB control, skeletal TB in children is often misdiagnosed due to its non-specific clinical presentation, contributing to poor outcomes such as joint deformities, growth disturbances, and chronic pain. The complexity of diagnosing osteoarticular TB is further exacerbated by the limited sensitivity of conventional diagnostic tools and the overlap with other musculoskeletal conditions.

Background: 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] deficiency is a global health concern, particularly in pediatric populations, with implications for musculoskeletal health and overall well-being. This study aimed to evaluate serum 25(OH)D levels in a pediatric population and assess the prevalence of deficiency and insufficiency.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from 741 pediatric patients (2-17 years old) who visited an urban hospital for children for acute respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions in the span of 2 years.

Article Synopsis
  • Salicylate poisoning can cause serious acid-base imbalances, and traditionally, intubation and mechanical ventilation have been discouraged for these patients.
  • A study tracked 32 adults experiencing severe salicylate poisoning to assess changes in pH and the frequency of severe complications when intubation was performed.
  • The results showed no significant changes in pH or severe complications from intubation, suggesting a reevaluation of the current guidelines may be necessary.

Introduction: Injuries of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are commonly found in the general population, both among adult and pediatric patients, and their incidence has been increasing in recent years. Most of the late literature agrees that surgical reconstruction of the ACL is effective in improving long-term outcomes in pediatric patients, while others in the past have pleaded for non-surgical management.

Purpose/hypothesis: Our study aims to verify if ACL reconstruction (ACLR) using transphyseal technique in skeletally immature patients will provide angular deviations or growth restrictions.

(1) Background: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare skeletal dysplasia characterized as a heterogeneous disorder group with well-defined phenotypic and genetic features that share uncommon bone fragility. The current treatment options, medical and orthopedic, are limited and not efficient enough to improve the low bone density, bone fragility, growth, and mobility of the affected individuals, creating the need for alternative therapeutic agents. (2) Methods: We searched the medical database to find papers regarding treatments for OI other than conventional ones.
