Canadian Association of Radiologists Prostate MRI White Paper.

Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy and the third most common cause of death in Canadian men. In light of evolving diagnostic pathways for prostate cancer and the increased use of MRI, which now includes its use in men prior to biopsy, the Canadian Association of Radiologists established a Prostate MRI Working Group to produce a white paper to provide recommendations on establishing and maintaining a Prostate MRI Programme in the context of the Canadian healthcare system. The recommendations, which are based on available scientific evidence and/or expert consensus, are intended to maintain quality in image acquisition, interpretation, reporting and targeted biopsy to ensure optimal patient care.

Transperineal Prostate Biopsies Using Local Anesthesia: Experience with 1,287 Patients. Prostate Cancer Detection Rate, Complications and Patient Tolerability.

Purpose: We report our experience with transperineal prostate biopsy as well as the cancer diagnosis rate, complications and patient tolerability in 1,287 consecutive patients at risk for prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: Beginning in October 2016 transperineal prostate biopsy was performed using local anesthesia in all patients undergoing prostate biopsy. Data on prebiopsy characteristics and results, including the cancer detection rate, complications and patient tolerability scores, were collected retrospectively from patient records.

Is quality and completeness of reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in high impact radiology journals associated with citation rates?

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine whether study quality and completeness of reporting of systematic reviews (SR) and meta-analyses (MA) published in high impact factor (IF) radiology journals is associated with citation rates.

Methods: All SR and MA published in English between Jan 2007-Dec 2011, in radiology journals with an IF >2.75, were identified on Ovid MEDLINE.
