Background: No recent data are available on hepatitis delta virus (HDV) prevalence in Algeria. For this reason we conducted an epidemiological study, cross-sectional seroprevalence of HDV in the region of Setif.
Methods: Between 2011 and 2014, sera samples of 500 patients (carrying HBsAg) admitted to the Division of Infectious Diseases Teaching Hospital, Setif (east of Algeria), were tested for anti-HDV-IgG ab (ETI-AB-DeltaK-2).
Aim: Polymorphisms in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) and cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) genes, involved in the intracellular metabolism of homcysteine, can result in hyperhomocysteinemia. The objective of this study was to evaluate prevalence estimates of MTHFR C677T and the CBS insertion of 68-bp (844ins68) polymorphisms among individuals with cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Our study involved a representative sample of 1457 subjects and aimed at assessing the prevalence of type 2 diabetes and glucose intolerance in the population of Setif Wilaya, aged between 30 and 64 years old.
