Rapid Exploration of Chemical Space by High-Throughput Desorption Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry.

This study leverages accelerated reactions at the solution/air interface of microdroplets generated by desorption electrospray ionization (DESI) to explore the chemical space. DESI is utilized to synthesize drug analogs at an overall rate of 1 reaction mixture per second, working on the low-nanogram scale. Transformations of multiple drug molecules at specific functionalities (phenol, hydroxyl, amino, carbonyl, phenyl, thiophenyl, and alkenyl) are achieved using electrophilic/nucleophilic, redox, C-H functionalization, and coupling reactions.

Characterizing Point-of-Care Ultrasound Credentialing in Pediatric Emergency Departments.

Objective: It is unclear which pediatric emergency departments (PEDs) have a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) credentialing process or if this process is consistent per expert guidelines. Our objective was to describe formalized POCUS credentialing processes across PEDs that are active in the pediatric emergency medicine POCUS (P2) Network.

Methods: A survey was developed from nationally recommended credentialing guidelines.

Similarly, Mexican mothers in Mexico have low rates of physical activity. Motherhood and immigration experiences are recognized barriers to engage in physical activity among Latina immigrant mothers.

Examining the impacts of public transit on healthy aging through a natural experiment: study protocols and lessons learned from the Active El Paso project.

This paper describes protocols and experiences from a seven-year natural-experiment study in El Paso, Texas, a border city of predominantly Latino/Hispanic population. The study focuses on how Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) impacts physical activity and thus plays a role in alleviating obesity and related chronic diseases that impact healthy aging. Our protocols describe a longitudinal and case-comparison study, which compared residents exposed to new BRT stations with those who were not.
