Primary aldosteronism is caused by autonomous overproduction of aldosteron in the adrenocortical cells ofzona glomerulosa. It is the most frequent form of endocrine hypertension. The morphologic base of this disorder are tumorous, or hyperplastic changes of the adrenal gland.

Material And Methods: In the investigation 10 female patients with thyreotoxicosis caused by Graves-Basedow's disease were included. Their average age was 38 years and along with a thyrostatic drug bisoprolol was administered.
Anticoagulant treatment with coumarins is due to it unequivocal benefit and relatively low risk increasingly used for prevention of sudden cerebrovascular attacks, in atrial fibrillation, in the treatment of thromboembolic disease, as part of treatment after replacement of cardiac valves and other diseases. With the increasing number of indications and patients treated with oral anticoagulants the number of haemorrhagic complications is increasing. The submitted case-history demonstrates an uncommon haemorrhagic complication, retroperitoneal haematoma associated with a neurological symptomatology in a 59-year-old patient who had prolonged anticoagulant treatment with monocoumarin with permanent non-rheumatic atrial fibrillation, a history of an anteroseptal myocardial infarction with an aneurysm and apical thrombus, polycythemia and chronic venous insufficiency.

The patients were divided, with regard to the presence or absence of manifest ischaemic heart disease, into two groups which differed significantly as to the mean age of patients and the minimal R-R interval. In both groups diffuse ectopia was found without persisting activity except for one patient after myocardial infarction with relapsing ventricular tachycardia, organic sinoatrial blocks were found in two patients, an organic atrioventricular grade II block in one female patient and a functional (vagotonic) atrioventricular block of a higher grade in one female patient.

Examinations to which the patient with IHD should be subjected before a cardiac operation and the surgical risk are discussed in the part on preoperative examination of the patient with IHD. The paper deals in detail with the preoperative preparation and contemporary views on the subject with specific views on different drugs.
