Starch-based biofilms are biodegradable, but their application is limited by lower mechanical strength and absence of antimicrobial properties. In this context, the present study attempted to unleash the potential of nanotechnology for synthesizing nano-starch (NS) and tannic acid-coated nano-starch (T-NS) for augmenting the tensile strength and antimicrobial properties of starch-based biofilms. Moreover, this study reports one of the first such attempts to improve the commercial viability of starch extracted from the corms of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius.

In this research work, multifunctional metal-polymer composite drug-eluting substrates (DES) for stent application were developed by using commercially pure titanium (cpTi) and polyethylene glycol (PEG).
Methods: Surface modifications on titanium substrates were carried out by sodium hydroxide under various concentrations; 5M (6 and 24 h) and 10M (6 and 24 h).
Purpose: Cervicothoracic and apical thoracic neuroblastoma pose unique surgical challenges. We report our experience with the trapdoor anterior thoracotomy (TAT) approach to overcome these difficulties.
Methods: Retrospective review of our centre's neuroblastoma database was conducted.
Intraoperative bleeding is the most crucial safety concern of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for a major pulmonary resection. Despite the advances in surgical techniques and devices, intraoperative bleeding is still not rare and remains the most common and potentially fatal cause of conversion from VATS to open thoracotomy. Therefore, to guide the clinical practice of VATS lung surgery, we proposed the International Interest Group on Bleeding during VATS Lung Surgery with 65 experts from 10 countries in the field to develop this consensus document.
