How options are framed can dramatically influence choice preference. While salience of information plays a central role in this effect, precisely how it is mediated by attentional processes remains unknown. Current models assume a simple relationship between attention and choice, according to which preference should be uniformly biased towards the attended item over the whole time-course of a decision between similarly valued items.

We introduce the Lattice Method for the quantitative assessment of the topographic order within the pattern of connections between two structures. We apply this method to published visuocollicular mapping data obtained by Fourier-based intrinsic imaging of mouse colliculus. We find that, in maps from wild types and β2 knock-outs, at least 150 points on the colliculus are represented in the visual field in the correct relative order.

Background And Purpose: M1 muscarinic ACh receptors (mAChRs) represent an attractive drug target for the treatment of cognitive deficits associated with diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. However, the discovery of subtype-selective mAChR agonists has been hampered by the high degree of conservation of the orthosteric ACh-binding site among mAChR subtypes. The advent of functional screening assays has enabled the identification of agonists such as AC-42 (4-n-butyl-1-[4-(2-methylphenyl)-4-oxo-1-butyl]-piperidine), which bind to an allosteric site and selectively activate the M(1) mAChR subtype.
