The number of neutrons emitted from a nuclear reaction plays a crucial role in various fields, including nuclear theory, nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear energy and nuclear criticality safety. Accurate determination of neutron multiplicities requires the application of several corrections, with dead-time correction and background subtraction being particularly significant. These corrections become more challenging for neutron detectors with time-dependent neutron capture.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the need for accurate classification of esophageal cancer treatment strategies based on specific anatomical subsites, highlighting the importance of anatomical landmarks.* -
  • Researchers measured distances between various anatomical landmarks using techniques like endoscopic ultrasonography and CT scans, revealing notable differences based on individual body heights.* -
  • The findings suggest that current methods of determining esophageal subsite boundaries are inconsistent, proposing modifications or the use of alternative landmarks for better anatomical classification.*

Introduction: We aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) placement in patients with prior radiotherapy (RT) using the Niti-S stent, which is characterized by low radial force, in comparison to patients without prior RT.

Methods: A consecutive series of 83 patients who were treated by SEMS placement using Niti-S stent for severe malignant esophageal obstruction or fistula were enrolled. The adverse event rates and efficacy were retrospectively compared between patients with/without prior RT before SEMS placement (RT group [n = 32] versus non-RT group [n = 51]).

We present the results of 105 patients with life-threatening hemoptysis who were treated with the systemic arterial and/or pulmonary artery routes. We also describe the procedure techniques and the angiographic findings. We show the usefulness of the flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy and chest radiography to identify the bleeding zone previous to the procedure.
