It is rare for quadriparesis to manifest as a symptom of tropical illnesses. With a history of only one fever episode one week prior, our patient, a 48-year-old male with obesity and prediabetes, who was also known to have ankylosing spondylitis, presented with acute onset flaccid quadriparesis. He did not exhibit any additional symptoms of dengue, such as bleeding tendencies, petechial rashes, thrombocytopenia, or febrile episodes.

Freshwater cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs) are a worldwide problem resulting in substantial economic losses, due to harm to drinking water supplies, commercial fishing, wildlife, property values, recreation, and tourism. Moreover, toxins produced from some cyanoHABs threaten human and animal health. Climate warming can affect the distribution of cyanoHABs, where rising temperatures facilitate more intense blooms and a greater distribution of cyanoHABs in inland freshwater.

Cell therapy for muscular dystrophy has met with limited success, mainly due to the poor engraftment of donor cells, especially in fibrotic muscle at an advanced stage of the disease. We developed a cell-mediated exon skipping that exploits the multinucleated nature of myofibers to achieve cross-correction of resident, dystrophic nuclei by the U7 small nuclear RNA engineered to skip exon 51 of the dystrophin gene. We observed that co-culture of genetically corrected human DMD myogenic cells (but not of WT cells) with their dystrophic counterparts at a ratio of either 1:10 or 1:30 leads to dystrophin production at a level several folds higher than what predicted by simple dilution.

Background: Post-operative sore throat (POST) is one of the most common complaints post-endotracheal intubation and can be decreased through various interventions. This study aimed to determine the effect of fluticasone-impregnated saline throat packs on the occurrence and severity of POST and voice hoarseness.

Methods: This prospective, randomized, double-blinded trial was conducted on patients undergoing nasosinus surgeries at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital.
