Objective: With this cross-sectional study, we aimed to evaluate factors associated with moderate and high risk of periodontal disease (PD) progression in the Saudi population.

Methods: We reviewed 281 patients' clinical charts from predoctoral periodontal clinics at the dental teaching hospital in the College of Dentistry (COD) at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. After obtaining ethical approval, we determined the Periodontal Risk Assessment (PRA) of the included patients based on the modified criteria developed by Lang and Tonetti (2003).

Molecular markers are considered powerful tools to identify the potential genetic variation. Forty-two RAPD, ISSR and SSR markers were employed to characterize 21 mungbean genotypes. RAPD primers produced 79 polymorphic bands while ISSR and SSR markers amplified 21 and 6 polymorphic bands, respectively.

Purpose: Articular chondroprogenitors, a suitable contender for cell-based therapy in cartilage repair, routinely employ fetal bovine serum (FBS) for expansion and differentiation. The possibility of transplant rejections or zoonoses transmissions raise a need for xeno-free alternatives. Use of human platelet lysate (hPL), a nutrient supplement abundant in growth factors, has not been reported for human chondroprogenitor expansion thus far.
