Space division multiplexing (SDM) with Hermite Gaussian (HG) modes, for instance, can significantly boost the transmission link capacity. However, SDM is not suitable in existing single mode fiber networks, and in long-distance wireless, microwave, THz or optical links, the far-field beam distribution may present a problem. Recently it has been demonstrated, that time domain HG modes can be employed to enhance the link capacity.

The bursatellin-oxazinin family is a series of tyrosine-derived, nitrile-containing marine natural products from gastro-pod and bivalve molluscs. Although the first analogs were identified and associated with toxicity forty years ago, their biosynthetic origins were unknown. During an investigation of published mollusc genomes and transcriptomes, we serendipitously identified a putative bursatellin biosynthetic gene cluster (referred hereafter as the pathway).

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed enhanced single-stranded DNA (esDNA) templates with chemical modifications that significantly improve the efficiency of genome editing when used with Cas9, achieving 2-3 times higher knock-in rates compared to standard ssDNA.
  • In specific cell types, such as airway basal stem cells and CD34+ hematopoietic cells, esDNA facilitated correction of target genes (CFTR, HBB, CCR5) in over 50% of cases, indicating strong potential for therapeutic applications.
  • However, esDNA wasn't effective in induced pluripotent stem cells due to the lack of the nuclease TREX1, suggesting further research is needed for scalable production of modified ssDNA for gene insertion.

Patients with advanced gastric and colorectal cancers have limited treatment options. Since mesothelin is highly expressed in these tumour types, we evaluated the therapeutic benefits of anti-mesothelin hYP218 CAR T cells alone, and in combination with anti-PD1 antibody, pembrolizumab. GEPIA analysis was performed using human gastric (n = 408) and colon cancer tumours (n = 275) in TCGA database, to evaluate mRNA expression of mesothelin, compared to normal tissues.
