Biosilica layer-by-layer modified with polyamines and carboxyarsenazo for REE preconcentration prior to ICP-MS determination in lignites and volcanic fumarole sediment.

Biosilica-based adsorbents prepared from rice husk, sequentially modified with polymeric polyamines and carboxyarsenazo were proposed for the preconcentration of 13 lanthanides, La, Sc, and Y. It is shown that the proposed adsorbent quantitatively extracted rare earth elements (REEs) from solutions with pH 3.5-6.

[Organ-sparing surgery for nephroblastoma in children].

We present the results of 53 stage I-III nephroblastoma pediatric patients treated in Belarusia from 2005 to 2010. All the patients received adjuvant chemotherapy (according to SIOP WT 2001 protocol), surgery (complete or partial nephrectomy) and neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The prolonged adjuvant chemotherapy was proposed in patients with good response as a cytoreductive measure enabling organ-sparing surgery.

CdBiO2Cl: synthesis and powder structure solution.

The title compound, cadmium bismuth dioxide chloride, CdBiO2Cl, was obtained as a white powder by reaction of solid BiOCl with CdO at 973 K. Ab initio crystal structure determination was carried out using X-ray powder diffraction techniques, including direct methods for atom location and Rietveld fitting for the final refinement. Being monoclinic, the crystal structure can be related to tetragonal Sillen layered phases.
