Challenges such as poor dispersion and insufficient polarization of BaTiO (BTO) nanoparticles (NPs) within poly(vinylidene fluoride--trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) composites have hindered their piezoelectricity, limiting their uses in pressure sensors, nanogenerators, and artificial sensory synapses. Here, we introduce a high-performance piezoelectric nanocomposite material consisting of P(VDF-TrFE)/modified-BTO (mBTO) NPs for use as a self-activating component in a piezotronic artificial mechanoreceptor. To generate high-performance piezoelectric nanocomposite materials, the surface of BTO is hydroxylated, followed by the covalent attachment of (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane to improve the dispersibility of mBTO NPs within the P(VDF-TrFE) matrix.

Polymeric solid electrolytes have attracted tremendous interest in high-safety and high-energy capacity lithium-sulfur (Li─S) batteries. There is, however, still a dilemma to concurrently attain high Li-ion conductivity and high mechanical strength that effectively suppress the Li-dendrite growth. Accordingly, a rapidly Li-ion conducting solid electrolyte is prepared by grafting pyrrolidinium cation (PYR)-functionalized poly(ethylene glycol) onto the poly(arylene ether sulfone) backbone (PAES-g-2PEGPYR).

Cardiovascular disease in children comprises a diverse collection of diseases involving multiple organ systems. Abnormality in children is predominately congenital but also may be acquired. Although noninvasive vascular imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance angiography and ultrasound lack ionizing radiation, with improving technology and an increased focus on radiation dose reduction, computed tomographic angiography (CTA) continues to have a role in evaluating cardiovascular disease in pediatric patients.

New drugs active against drug-resistant tuberculosis are urgently needed to extend the range of TB treatment options to cover drug resistant infections. Quinoxaline derivatives show very interesting biological properties (antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, antifungal, antihelmintic, insecticidal) and evaluation of their medicinal chemistry is still in progress. In this review we report the properties and the recent developments of quinoxaline 1,4-di-N-oxide derivatives as potential anti-tuberculosis agents.
