Orientation angles are commonly used to describe complex angular motions of the body. Selecting the most appropriate rotation sequence for a given segment's motion is crucial. The purpose of this study was to develop a set of generalisable, primary axis-centric sequence selection strategies and to compare the lean direction-lean-rotation (LDLR) sequence, selected for thoracic motion during golf driving based on the strategies, with the conventional rotation-bend-side bend (RBSB) sequence in assessing the level of inter-angle cross-talk.

In this work, we introduce and numerically demonstrate a new design for an optomechanical cavity consisting of a series of asymmetrically distributed rectangular silicon nanobricks, with each brick acting as an independent mechanical resonator but all coupled to the same optical field. Each silicon brick is placed on top of a thin silica pillar that ensures mechanical support whilst providing enough acoustic isolation between the individual mechanical resonances - at GHz frequencies - of each brick.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: In recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), complications like oesophageal strictures, hand contractures, cardiomyopathy and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) may develop, necessitating procedures such as oesophageal dilatation (OD), gastrostomy tube placement and hand surgery.
Objectives: To determine prevalence and age of onset of milestone events by RDEB subtype, specifically dysphagia, first OD, first gastrostomy tube, first hand surgery, cardiomyopathy, first SCC and death.
Methods: The Prospective Epidermolysis Bullosa Longitudinal Evaluation Study (PEBLES) is a register study of individuals with RDEB which records comprehensive EB- and non-EB-related health information.
Most of the malformations of the polymicrogyria spectrum are caused by destructive lesions of the neocortex during the third trimester of pregnancy, triggered by hypoxic-ischemic, hemorrhagic or infectious events, with neuroinflammation as a common pathophysiological mechanism. Our study investigated hydrocortisone treatment in attenuating inflammation, malformations development and seizures predisposition in mice subjected to neonatal transcranial freeze lesion. Our results show attenuation of malformation and predisposition to febrile seizures, with concomitant reduction of macrophages/microglia after neonatal freeze lesion, polarizing them towards an anti-inflammatory profile.
