Vitrectomies were carried out in 35 children with traumatic cataracts and complications of surgery for cataracts, caused by injury to the posterior lenticular capsule and incorporation of its fragments to the vitreous. Complete removal of lenticular rudiments rapidly eliminated phacogenic iridocyclitis and improved visual acuity. Improvement of visual functions was attained in 66.

Clinical picture of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis was studied in 232 patients. The patients were divided into 3 groups. Group I included 147 patients with a monoinfection: Group 2 consisted of 70 epidemic keratoconjunctivitis patients after surgery for cataracts and glaucoma; Group 3 included 15 patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis and ophthalmic herpes.

A study of the therapeutic effect in 159 patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis treated by antiviral preparations: alpha-interferon, prodigiosane, 0.25% phlorenale and 0.05% riodoxole ointments has a sufficiently high effect of the mentioned preparations; the duration of the disease is shorter in these patients as compared with patients treated by common antibiotic preparations.
