[Vitrectomy in traumatic cataracts and in the complications of surgery in congenital cataract in children].

Vitrectomies were carried out in 35 children with traumatic cataracts and complications of surgery for cataracts, caused by injury to the posterior lenticular capsule and incorporation of its fragments to the vitreous. Complete removal of lenticular rudiments rapidly eliminated phacogenic iridocyclitis and improved visual acuity. Improvement of visual functions was attained in 66.

[Vitrectomy: method for treating of vitreo-corneal adhesions in children].

Vitreocorneal adhesions were removed by anterior vitrectomy in 37 children. In 19 patients the adhesions developed after removal of cataracts and in 18 after penetrating wounds of the cornea. Vitrectomy was carried out 1 month to 6 years after the diagnosis, the mean term was 1.

[Results of the surgical treatment in syndrome of primary persistent hyperplastic vitreous body].

Nineteen children with this syndrome aged 4 months to 15 years were treated. In case of a functioning hyaloid artery, the authors used an original surgical method. Visual functions were improved in 76.

[Characteristics of the clinical course of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis].

Clinical picture of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis was studied in 232 patients. The patients were divided into 3 groups. Group I included 147 patients with a monoinfection: Group 2 consisted of 70 epidemic keratoconjunctivitis patients after surgery for cataracts and glaucoma; Group 3 included 15 patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis and ophthalmic herpes.

[The efficacy of antiviral preparations in treating epidemic keratoconjunctivitis].

A study of the therapeutic effect in 159 patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis treated by antiviral preparations: alpha-interferon, prodigiosane, 0.25% phlorenale and 0.05% riodoxole ointments has a sufficiently high effect of the mentioned preparations; the duration of the disease is shorter in these patients as compared with patients treated by common antibiotic preparations.
