Complications of Laparoscopic and Open Donor Hepatectomy for Living Donor Liver Transplantation: Single Center Experience.

Objectives: Donor hepatectomy is a major surgery with a relatively safeprofile anda reportedcomplication rate of ~20%. Most complications are non-life threatening and are resolved with conservative measures. However, rare complications may need invasive precautions, ranging from percutaneous interventions to surgeries.

The Consequences of HLA Screening in the Prevention of Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Living Donor Liver Transplantation.

Aims: To study the effects of routine HLA screening and the policy of avoiding donor-dominant one-way HLA match to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after living donor liver transplantation (LDLT).

Patients And Methods: The records of potential living liver donors and recipients who attended our center between 2007 and 2018 were reviewed retrospectively.

Results: Of the 149 patients who underwent LDLT and survived longer than 3 months, two developed GVHD despite our strict policy.

Posoleucel in Kidney Transplant Recipients with BK Viremia: Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Phase 2 Trial.

Key Points: Posoleucel was generally safe, well tolerated, and associated with a greater reduction of BK viremia compared with placebo. BK viremia reduction occurred coincident with an increase in the circulating frequency of BK virus–specific T cells in posoleucel recipients. The presence and persistence of posoleucel was confirmed by T-cell receptor variable sequencing.

Carrier screening programs for rare diseases in developed countries and the case of Turkey: A systematic review.

Effective control of rare diseases requires health programs based on principles of protection and prevention. Carrier screening programs serve as preventive measures by identifying at-risk groups. This review examines the impact, implementation, advantages, and disadvantages of carrier screening, incorporating examples from ten countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Israel, China, Australia, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey.

Living Donor-Initiated Domino Split-Liver Transplantation in Pediatric Setup: A Case Report With Literature Review.

Background: In patients undergoing liver transplantation for metabolic diseases, removing the patient's liver for transplantation to another recipient is called "domino liver transplantation." The extracted liver can be divided and transplanted into 2 recipients, which is called domino split-liver transplantation in the literature. However, in our study, the domino liver was obtained from a pediatric patient.
