This study aimed to show what role biomedical engineering can play in sexual health. A new concept of sexological ontology, an essential tool for building evidence-based models of sexual health, is proposed. This ontology should be based on properly validated mathematical models of sexual reactions identified using reliable measurements of physiological signals.

Medication treatment strategies for Crohn disease (CD) include step-up (SU) therapy, beginning with oral anti-inflammatory agents, and top-down (TD) therapy, beginning with biologics or immunomodulators. The real-world utilization and short-term medical costs associated with these treatment strategies are not well described. To examine the prevalence of TD therapy use over time and compare the first-year direct medical expenditures among patients initiating CD medication treatment with SU and TD therapy in a real-world setting.

Super-resolution (SR) methods have seen significant advances thanks to the development of convolutional neural networks (CNNs). CNNs have been successfully employed to improve the quality of endomicroscopy imaging. Yet, the inherent limitation of research on SR in endomicroscopy remains the lack of ground truth high-resolution (HR) images, commonly used for both supervised training and reference-based image quality assessment (IQA).

Purpose: Probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) enables performing an optical biopsy via a probe. pCLE probes consist of multiple optical fibres arranged in a bundle, which taken together generate signals in an irregularly sampled pattern. Current pCLE reconstruction is based on interpolating irregular signals onto an over-sampled Cartesian grid, using a naive linear interpolation.
