Occurrence of De Quervain's Thyroiditis after Resolution of Hypercortisolism following Pasireotide Treatment for Cushing's Disease and Surgery for an Adrenocortical Adenoma: Report of Two Cases.

Objective: An increased prevalence of thyroid autoimmunity has been observed after successful treatment of Cushing's syndrome. On the other hand, De Quervain's thyroiditis (DQT), in which autoimmunity is not a pathogenetic contributor, has not been reported during recovery from Cushing's syndrome. We describe 2 female patients with DQT coinciding with the resolution of hypercortisolism after treatment of Cushing's syndrome/disease.

Epidemiology, clinical data, and treatment of viral hepatitis in a large cohort of intravenous drug users.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, epidemiological parameters, and the clinical data from the antiviral treatment of hepatitis C in a large cohort of intravenous drug users (IDUs) followed-up from 1994 until 2008.

Patients And Methods: A total of 1179 former IDUs followed up either in the liver unit or in the context of a substitution program organization were included in this study. A retrospective chart review was prepared to retrieve data on the patients' demographic characteristics, the prevalence of viral hepatitis, and information on HCV treatment.

Health-related quality of life in Greek chronic hepatitis C patients during pegylated interferon and ribavirin treatment.

Unlabelled: Background - Aims: Chronic hepatitis C (CHC) can cause a series of neuropsychiatric symptoms, whereas the currently approved treatment for this disease often induces similar symptoms as well. The aim of the present study was to compare Greek CHC patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) with that of healthy controls, to identify any possible relationships between HRQoL and demographic and laboratory parameters and to study the fluctuation of HRQoL during therapy and follow-up.

Patients And Methods: Ninty nine patients with CHC and 91 healthy controls were enrolled in the study.
