Blue nevi of the palpebral conjunctiva: report of 2 cases and review of literature.

Purpose: To describe two patients with blue nevi of the palpebral conjunctiva and to review the existing literature on common and cellular blue nevi of the conjunctiva.

Methods: Report of two cases and literature review.

Results: We present two cases of blue nevi in the palpebral conjunctiva: an atypical cellular blue nevus of the left upper eyelid and a common blue nevus around the lacrimal punctum of the left lower eyelid.

Chocolate Cysts Associated With Porous Polyethylene Orbital Implants.

Late-onset orbital hemorrhage is a rare complication of alloplastic implant use in orbital wall reconstruction following trauma. The authors report 3 patients with chocolate cysts presenting 3 to 9 years after orbital fracture repair with porous polyethylene implants. All patients were managed by implant removal and evacuation of cyst contents.

Pyoderma gangrenosum of the upper eyelid.

A 3-year-old woman presented with a large ulcerated lesion involving the left upper eyelid and left earlobe with erythematous, swollen, undermined and advancing borders. Culture of the ulcer showed no growth of organisms. Treatment with empiric intravenous and topical antibiotics showed no improvement.

Surgical treatment of extra-hypothalamic epilepsies presenting with gelastic seizures.

We provide an overview of the surgical outcome of extra-hypothalamic epilepsies with gelastic seizures based on an original case report and a summary of the literature. Twenty-two articles providing information on the outcome of resective surgery in 39 patients with extra-hypothalamic gelastic seizures from the temporal (19 patients) or frontal lobe (20 patients) were selected. We add another case of temporal lobe gelastic seizures to the literature with a video demonstrating the mirthful component of this patient's laughing seizures.

Intravenous lacosamide (LCM) in status epilepticus (SE): Weight-adjusted dose and efficacy.

Background: Some studies suggest higher efficacy of lacosamide (LCM) in status epilepticus (SE) with higher loading doses; however, this weight-adjusted dose has not been evaluated.

Objective: The objective was to evaluate the relationship between loading weight-adjusted dose and efficacy of LCM in SE.

Methods: A group of patients with SE treated with LCM from Spanish hospitals was examined retrospectively.
